I always knew in Scotland that having red hair, or "being ginger" usually earned you a bad rap.

Evidently these red-headed kids in Canada are finding things just as hard...."National Kick a Ginger Day" resulting in a Facebook page created to spread the word, and the subsequent battery and bruising of at least once student.

Student Ken Logel said: "I have a few buddies with red hair, you just kind of kick them lightly just as a joke but when it gets carried away that's not cool."

Ooohkay.

You know, I enjoy Southpark. Its one of my favourite programs, having found out about it way back with the original "Christmas Card" that circulated on the net many years ago.

However, I am beginning to think we have some real idiots watching Southpark these days....never ONCE have I watched Southpark and thought "Oh hey, that's a GOOD IDEA, I AM GOING TO GO DO THAT."

Too many e-numbers in your crisps, kiddos? Has the world gotten this idiotic?

Yes..I fear it has.

One of these kids may grow up to be your doctor. Yeesh.

As a redhead (brown-red), and a mom of a redhead (blond-red) in the US, I find this to be revolting. I guess some people who find this to be funny don't consider this to be minority bashing. After all, natural born redheads only make up 3% of the world's population. We're a REAL minority!

Its strange, because I had never seen such a thing until I moved to the UK and heard my (then) Scottish husband going on about "gingers". Suddenly it dawned on me that it was a BAD thing somehow. Well, call me surprised because as a kid, it was cool to have freckles (I wanted them) and I dyed my hair red, auburn and strawberry for YEARS just because I loved it, and it was kind of popular to do so. I never thought for a moment anyone would think otherwise. It was just..another hair colour!

But yeah, definitely there's this...thing about being redheaded in Scotland anyway....and its not positive. I had no idea it was in Canada also until I read this story.

Hithatsmybike, that was SO dead on...!
